About Ferns and Flow

Ferns and Flow is run by Kate Olivia Murphy, a multi-disciplinary artist based in South East Cornwall. 

Kate works across mediums, spending her days painting, printmaking, drawing, creating graphics and creating handpoke tattoos designs. Growing up in the Cornish countryside, Kate's work is greatly inspired by the natural world and the folklore it holds. Kate weaves stories within her art, creating a feeling of forgotten memories, and a knowing that lives deep within us all. Kate's artwork aims to engage people in a re-remembering of their heritage and love for mother earth, bringing back the magic and mystical we once lived in step with. Though Kate's works are broad in medium, they all share this common theme. 

Having studied Art at Falmouth University and progressing onto an Illustration Degree, Graduating in 2016, Kate has a deep understanding of traditional techniques, such as printmaking, painting and drawing and creating images for narratives.

Kate and her partner Dan have now opened Tattooed Folk, a folksy, friendly tattoo studio in Plymouth Devon.
